WWE Announces Return to Historic Wrestling Venue for Elimination Chamber

Toronto has a special place in pro wrestling history, with some of WWE’s biggest events of all time taking place in the city. It now appears the company will aim to create more history in 2025.
WWE announced Friday morning it is bringing its Elimination Chamber show to Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The event will be just WWE’s third main roster Premium Live Event (PLE) in Toronto since 2016, with the most recent being this past summer’s Money In The Bank event.
“Canada is an amazing place to host our biggest Premium Live Events, with its passionate fans and rich history that spans decades,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. “On the heels of a record-breaking Money In The Bank this past July, we are excited to return to Toronto for an even larger event in 2025.”
Fans took to social media to celebrate the news shortly after the announcement.

With Elimination Chamber now officially coming to Toronto I REALLY hope they announce meet and greets with Cena because this might be my only opportunity to meet him with him retiring in a year and he is THE reason I became a wrestling fan in the first place & my first favourite pic.twitter.com/ROBTd9NMfv

WWE last held the Elimination Chamber event in Canada in 2023 when it emanated from Montreal. There, hometown hero Sami Zayn faced off with then-undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a thunderous main event. While Canada is no stranger to big events, the return to Rogers Centre is significant.
The stadium isn’t just home to the Toronto Blue Jays, but it has held some of WWE’s most significant events of all time. It first hosted WrestleMania VI in 1990, a show featuring the mega main event of WWE Champion Hulk Hogan facing off against Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior in a Winner-Takes-All Match. Warrior would defeat Hogan for both championships, cementing his status in the company at the time.
WWE would then return to the venue (then known as SkyDome) in 2002 with WrestleMania X8. Though the main event that night saw Triple H defeat Chris Jericho to become Undisputed WWE Champion, that match didn’t steal the headlines. Instead, it was the memorable “Icon vs. Icon” match between Hogan and The Rock, a match many regard as one of the greatest pro wrestling spectacles ever. It was Hogan’s first WrestleMania match in almost a decade, and Rock’s win reinforced to the audience that he was on the same level as Hall of Famer Hogan.
This year’s event could be notable for serving as one of John Cena’s final appearances in Canada. The 16-time world champion announced last year that 2025 would be the final year of his in-ring career, and he is widely expected to be on the WrestleMania 41 card the following month in Las Vegas.
Last year’s Elimination Chamber show also took place at an international venue, hailing from Australia’s Optus Stadium in Perth.
