The 8 Best Millie Bobby Brown Movies and TV Shows to Watch Now

It’s hard to believe that Millie Bobby Brown is at such a young age, given her impressive rolodex of TV and film roles over the last decade. The Spanish native immediately stunned in her first acting gig, starring as Young Alice in the 2013 ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. The role was a recurring part of the show and memorable for fans, as it was based on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll.

It was clear from the jump Brown would be a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment world, which the talent scout who discovered her in an acting workshop shortly before firmly believed. Her name quickly appeared in the credits of various on-screen projects for her portrayal of fan-favorite characters Eleven and Enola, among others.  It’s a remarkable resume for someone barely able to legally drink, however, Brown’s experience in Hollywood hasn’t come without some setbacks.

During an interview with Allure in September 2022, Brown revealed she nearly quit acting at 10 years old after a casting director deemed her too mature to make it in the business – a quality she thought would propel her forward. Thankfully, the actress didn’t throw in the towel because the world wouldn’t have seen her biggest moments in the TV and films listed below.

Brown portrayed Eleven in Netflix’s science fiction drama Stranger Things, a role she started when she was 11. Fans felt like they grew up with Brown and her castmates – Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, and Joe Keery – as they watched their characters throughout the show’s four seasons beginning in 2016. Needless to say, they had mixed reactions about the announcement that the fifth season would be its last.

Creators Matt and Ross Duffer revealed in November 2024 the show would wrap after five seasons upon releasing the trailer for the final episodes. It came after the show’s banner fourth season, which set a Nielsen record for the most watched show on the streamer at the time. Despite the series’ success, Brown admitted she was ready to move on from her beloved Stranger Things character.

“I’m definitely ready to wrap up,” Brown told Seventeen Magazine during a 2023 interview. “I feel like there’s a lot of the story that’s been told now, and we know of it, it’s been in our lives for a very long time. But I’m very ready to say goodbye to this chapter of my life and open new ones up.”

“I’m able to create stories myself that are important to me and focus on the bigger picture. But I’m really grateful [for the show],” Brown added.

Intruders (2014)

Before Brown nabbed Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her role in Stranger Things, she starred in The Intruders – an eight-episode TV series that premiered in 2014 about a secret society that chases immortality by retreating in the bodies of others who’ve died. The BBC show got the axe after one season, but then 10-year-old Brown was a raw talent, and the gig became a stepping stone for better things to come.

The British star reflected on her part in The Intruders during a 2016 interview with Spooky Empire, confessing she didn’t exactly have the craft of acting down yet. “I didn’t understand acting it’s like an entire oeuvre on a camera you know I didn’t understand the whole perspective,” the Netflix star said.

Brown has learned a thing or two about acting since starring alongside John Simm, James Frain, Mira Sorvino, Tory Kittles, and Sonya Salomaa in the drama series as she moved on to other notable roles.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

In 2019, Brown starred in her first feature film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, kicking off her career as a movie star. The film is a sequel to the 2014 Godzilla movie, and the storyline picks up five years later, where members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against massive creatures, one being Godzilla. Brown plays Madison Russell, the daughter of Kyle Chandler’s character Dr. Mark Russell.

In a 2019 interview, the film’s director, Michael Dougherty, spoke about casting Brown for the role after using her as a stand-in for previsualization work. “Millie’s great. She was still… Season 2 of Stranger Things had just been shot. Not even aired yet. I was a huge fan of the show and my pre-viz animators and I used her face as reference, as a model for the pre-viz for the movie before we ever cast her,” Dougherty said to Screen Rant.

“We got so used to seeing her face that we just kind of said, ‘Well…why don’t we make her the offer?’ And we had a breakfast here at The London, years ago, and we actually spent more time talking about our mutual love of animals and pet reptiles and just a love of nature that I think she clicked with the themes of the film,” Dougherty added.

Enola Holmes (2020)

Brown again teamed up with Netflix for the 2020 mystery film Enola Holmes, in which she plays the title character, the younger sister of Victorian-era detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). The movie follows teenage Enola as she searches for her missing mother (Helena Bonham Carter) and uses her wits to outsmart her brother.

The movie became an instant hit, and a second film was released two years later, both of which Brown produced. Brown’s character was so loved that Enola had been immortalized as a wax figure at Madame Tussaud’s in London in July 2024.

“It’s a huge achievement for me being a woman,” Brown told the museum upon viewing the sculpture. “I’m really excited not only just to be a wax figure, but for a Enola to have that opportunity. It’s a big inspiration for so many young girls and I think this is a really big step so I’m very grateful.”

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)

Brown reprised her role as Madison Russell in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, where the world’s most powerful forces clash in an epic battle. Many fresh faces were brought to the Monsterverse, including Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, and Brian Tyree Henry, and a new director from the last film, Adam Wingard.

The fifth installment in the franchise, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, premiered in March 2024, though Brown didn’t appear in the film. In an interview with Digital Spy, Wingard explained her absence, saying, “It just felt like we wrapped up her King of the Monsters arc in the last movie. When it came to designing the story for this film, my motto the entire time was ‘simplicity is key.'”

Wingard also revealed his plan to keep the cast small to allow for a deeper exploration of the characters, which is why some beloved Godzilla stars didn’t return.

Enola Holmes drew incredible numbers, debuting as the second most-watched item on Netflix and being the platform’s biggest first-day opening in 2020. Naturally, the streamer released a follow-up film, Enola Homes 2, in 2022. The film attracted massive attention and topped Netflix’s viewership charts in 93 countries. Brown and Cavill reprised their roles, with the former’s character now being a detective-for-hire on a case to find a missing girl.

It’s rumored a third film is underway, as it was reported in November 2024 that Philip Barantini signed on as the director. Brown is expected to return as Enola, though Deadline claimed the storyline for the sequel might be “darker” than the first two films.

Shortly before, Brown said she’d be on board with doing another Enola Holmes production, although it had yet to get the green light. “I would love to be a part of another one,” the TV star told Screen Rant. “I would love to see [Enola Holmes] do more cases, be put under pressure, be put in crazy situations, make her feel vulnerable again. I absolutely love seeing her back at work.”

Damsel (2024)

Brown added another Netflix film to her resume in March 2024 with the premiere of Damsel, in which she plays a damsel who agrees to marry a prince but soon discovers his family recruited her to pay back an old debt. The film also stars Ray Winstone, Angela Bassett, Nick Robinson, and Robin Wright.

Following the film’s release, Brown revealed she overcame a major fear of claustrophobia while filming in a cave for the movie. She credited the director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, for helping her through the scene by talking to her to calm her nerves. “That helped me so much because I didn’t feel alone in there,” Brown told Netflix in an interview.

In another interview, Brown spoke about her decision to take the role despite its challenges. “I fell in love with the Damsel script when I read it five years ago,” the former child star said to Forbes in March 2024. “I’ve been so fortunate to be able to collaborate with Netflix all these years across multiple genre-crossing projects as a girl and a young woman who has agency.”

Brown continued: “I appreciate the loyal fans all over the world who continue to show up and have truly impacted my career in a most extraordinary way. I love hearing how inspired you were by Elodie, and encourage everyone to harness their inner warrior and use it for good and pass it on!”

The Electric State (2025)

Fans expect big things from The Electric State, an action movie starring Brown, Chris Pratt, and Woody Harrelson, premiering on Netflix in March 2025. The film tells the story of an orphaned teenager traveling across the country with her robot on a special quest.

In January 2023, Brown was spotted on the movie set looking shockingly different dressed in character, including an oversized shirt, baggy overalls, and her hair in loose blond waves.

Months before the film’s release, Pratt intrigued fans about the movie when he revealed he got emotional reading the script. “It’s not the kind of thing that typically gets made to be a blockbuster-style movie like this. It’s so original, it’s a huge swing,” the Jurassic World star told The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024.

“I thought that these types of movies might be my last opportunity to be in a big movie like this. I have to look at every opportunity like that. And I did. It’s just such a great story. I was moved to tears reading,” he added.
