10 Awesome Cars Toyota Brought to Sema 2024

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas is a goldmine of eye-raising concept cars. And this year was no exception, especially for Toyota. The Japanese automaker debuted several concept vehicles that drove car enthusiasts and the automotive press alike into a frenzy.
When we look at these vehicles, it’s not hard to see why. While these models might never go into production themselves, we do hope that the automaker will use the positive response to these concepts as cues for future production models.
Here are 10 of our favorite vehicles that Toyota brought to SEMA this year.
The GR86 Rally Legacy Concept

Rally car fans will likely recognize the GR86 Rally Legacy Concept as a homage to Toyota’s iconic Celica GT-Four Rally car from the ’90s. The lucky crowds in Las Vegas this year got to see this modern, turbocharged, all-wheel drive GR86 build with their own eyes. We couldn’t be more jealous.
The Japanese automaker derived this electrifying concept car from the Performance Package version of its 2024 GR86. Sporting a G16 engine, which Toyota boosted through a series of upgrades, this Rally Legacy Concept vehicle has an output of 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. However, the Japanese automaker has stated that the GR86 concept could produce even more power with further tuning. Featuring a striking Halo White exterior and a heritage-inspired green and red color palette, this sleek concept vehicle is a worthy tribute to Toyota’s motorsports history.
The Superbird Tribute

NASCAR fans hold Richard “The King” Petty in pretty high regard. And for good reason. He won seven championships and won 200 races during his illustrious career. The “Petty Blue” Superbird he drove is rightfully considered one of the most iconic vehicles in stock car racing history.
According to the Japanese automaker, NASCAR analyst and Toyota ambassador Rutledge Wood came up with the Superbird Tribute after several conversations with Richard’s son, Kyle Petty. The goal of this concept was to recognize the new NASCAR partnership between Legacy Motor Club, which Petty serves as a brand ambassador for, and Toyota. Wood built this concept vehicle from a GR Supra 3.0 Premium in his personal collection. It produces 382 hp and 386 lb-ft of torque. Appropriately, the car has a “Petty Blue” finish, and the number 43 is hand-painted on its doors and roof.
The 4RUNNER TRD Surf Concept

Never underestimate the power of nostalgia. It’s arguably the concept behind Toyota’s stunning 4Runner TRD Surf Concept. How does someone lay eyes on this gorgeous vehicle with its removable roof and not wish they were in 1980s Southern California, cruising to the beach in a Toyota 4Runner with surfboards in tow, getting ready to capture the perfect wave?
Can the Japanese automaker please put this model into production? This stellar concept vehicle takes the rugged, open-air spirit of the first-generation 4Runner and combines it with the modern technology and design elements of Toyota’s all-new 2025 4Runner. We don’t even surf, but we would take up the lifestyle if it meant cruising around in this adventurous vehicle.
The Ultimate Tailgate Tundra

If the 4Runner TRD Surf Concept had you craving the beach, then the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra will have you hankering for game day. This pickup truck concept is nothing less than an audiovisual powerhouse.
With the push of a button, five 55-inch weatherproof outdoor screens rise out of this Tundra concept’s bed. You read that correctly. Five massive TV screens give the tailgaters at this party a picture-perfect view of the game from any angle. Additionally, the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra sports a rack-mounted 180 Dual + R-Filler canopy capable of providing 185 square feet of shade. Rain or shine, nothing diminishes game-day enjoyment with the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra.
The RAV-X Concept

Another fitting addition to Toyota’s lineup at the 2024 SEMA show was the RAV-X Concept. We have Toyota Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD) to thank for this small crossover creation. Taking inspiration from the rugged Dakar Rally, this sturdy yet nimble crossover SUV combines agile off-road capability and high-speed performance.
The Japanese automaker used a 2024 RAV4 plug-in hybrid as the foundation for this build. According to Toyota, this bespoke off-road vehicle has a net output of 302 hp. The automaker has also teased that this RAV-X Concept is what “lies ahead for small crossover vehicles.” Future RAV4s will likely take cues from this endurance rally racer.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Open-Air Concept

For those who feel the call of the wild, the Land Cruiser “Recreation Open eXperience” or “ROX” concept is a godsend. The singular SUV is a spirited reimagining of Toyota’s iconic open-top Land Cruisers of yesteryear.
It started as a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser before the Japanese automaker reinvented over 50 percent of the vehicle. Toyota has taken the Land Cruiser’s “go anywhere” attitude and turned the volume up to 11 — what we would give to hit the trails and see the stars in this baby. We hope that Toyota will consider giving this “ROX” concept a future as a production model.
The #84 Tacoma Trd ProRunner Race Concept

Toyota built the #84 Tacoma TRD ProRunner Race Concept to honor its partnership with the Legacy Motor Club and legendary NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson. The Japanese automaker modified this race concept to compete in the Stock Mid-Size off-road race class.
It added Fox Internal Bypass shocks along with 2.5-inch aluminum housings, among other suspension upgrades, to the Tacoma’s classic two-door XtraCab configuration. Exclusively available in “Mudbath,” this rugged racer also sports chrome-finished side mirrors and door handles. Johnson has praised the #84 Tacoma TRD ProRunner Race Concept as a serious demonstration of off-road performance and capability. Any off-road racing enthusiasts looking to tear it up at the Baja 1,000 will be keen on seeing this concept go into production.
The 2025 Toyota 4RUNNER

While the Japanese automaker already announced the “adventure-ready” 2025 4Runner earlier this year, that didn’t stop them from bringing it to SEMA. It comes with all the technological bells and whistles consumers crave in an SUV of its ilk. The 2025 iteration of Toyota’s beloved SUV comes with a 14-inch touchscreen multimedia display and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 features on all trims. Standard is an i-FORCE MAX turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine capable of producing 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque.
However, consumers who want their new 4Runner to have a little more zest can get the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, which produces up to 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The Japanese automaker has sold more than 3 million 4Runner units since debuting the model 40 years ago. If its showing in Las Vegas was anything to go by, those sales numbers will climb even higher after customers see it on dealership lots.
The Classic Adventure Cruiser

The Classic Adventure Cruiser is a clean, classy, stylish build. SUV enthusiasts and thrill seekers alike should delight in this off-roader concept. It features a full Toyota lift, as well as iconic 20×9-inch wheels.
It’s an SUV that is both aesthetically striking and practical for hitting the trail. Car enthusiasts don’t usually think of concept cars as daily drivers, but that’s exactly the sweet spot Toyota’s Classic Adventure Cruiser occupies. If the Japanese automaker ever brings this baby to market, it will likely sell like hotcakes.
The Modellista Overland Vision Concept

Every concept car lineup has to have a model for sci-fi fans. Toyota’s Modellista Overland Vision Concept is that vehicle. It’s covered in armor and futuristic lighting. Is all, or any, of it practical? We doubt it. This vehicle is more about vision than practicality.
But, oh my, Blade Runner 2049 is this SUV cool to look at. To those familiar with Modellista, this creation is no surprise. The body kit and accessory company has long provided Toyota and Lexus vehicles with style and panache to spare. Now, they’ve shown they have the imagination to dream up great sci-fi vehicle concepts. We may never see the Modellista Overland Vision Concept on the road, but maybe Hollywood will snatch this one up and feature it in a sci-fi epic.
