13 Best Upper-Class Cars of 2024

Purchasing a car is one of the biggest financial decisions you can make, and in most cases, it’s not an appreciating asset like a house.
Thanks to their high incomes and net worth, the upper class can afford much more expensive and luxurious cars than the rest of us, and there’s no shortage of vehicles for them to choose from.
We’ve gathered some of the best upper-class cars on the market in 2024. While they cost a fortune, they’re also well-equipped to justify their price tags.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Mercedes-Benz is one of the world’s top luxury car brands, and the E-Class has always been one of the market leaders. The top trim level is jam-packed with technology, bringing it closer to the flagship S-Class.
The E350 has an inline-four 2.0-liter producing 255hp, and the hybrid E450 has a 3.0-liter six-cylinder and sends 375-hp to the wheels, resulting in a 4.4-second 0 to 60 mph sprint.
BMW 5-Series

BMW’s 5-Series has always been the Mercedes E-Class’ closest competitor. It is, as always, a stylish sedan, and the higher trims offer plenty of luxuries, space, power, and technology.
The 530i has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 255-hp. If that’s not enough, there’s the 540i with its turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder producing 375 Bavarian ponies.
Genesis G90

That’s right, the Koreans are making proper luxury cars for the upper class now. While it probably won’t be the first choice among those who typically buy a Benz or Bimmer, the Genesis G90 delivers a similar amount of tech and luxuries as the Germans.
The Genesis flagship is one of the largest sedans on the market, and with prices in the $90,000–100,000 range, there’s no doubt that customers will expect a lot from the G90. With a twin-turbocharged and e-supercharged 3.5-liter V6 producing 409 hp, Genesis certainly has plenty of performance.
BMW i5

BMW’s i5 offers two trim levels, the eDrive50 and M60, with the latter being the performance variant. Packing 590 electrified horses, the i5 M60 can reach 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, and it has a 295-mile range on a single charge. Not quite Tesla Model S Plaid numbers, but still pretty decent.
The i5 offers plenty of luxuries and tech, too, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch infotainment screen, lots of wood and carbon fiber, and a panoramic roof.
Mercedes EQS

The Mercedes EQS offers a perfect blend of power, efficiency, and luxury. It’s available in four trims, with prices ranging from around $100,000 to roughly $150,000. For that money, buyers can expect the highest-quality materials and the latest technology, including top-notch safety features.
In its lowest trim, the EQS delivers 355 hp, which is decent for most uses, but those who want a real performance car should opt for the AMG version with 751 hp.
Lucid Air

If a Tesla Model S is too slow for you, make sure to check out the Lucid Air. Base models are available for just over $70,000, and the top trim will set you back a whopping $250,000. That kind of money buys you style, luxury, and ridiculous performance.
Its interior is loaded with high-quality materials and top-notch craftsmanship. You’ll also find the most advanced driver assists available, which is handy, seeing as the Air Sapphire packs 1,234 hp and sprints to 60 mph in just 1.89 seconds.
Porsche Taycan

The Taycan, Porsche’s first electric production car, took the world by storm when launched a few years back. It’s now available in different body styles and layouts, with prices ranging from around $100,000 to over $200,000.
In true Porsche form, the Taycan is packed with luxury and performance in a stylish package that looks unmistakably like a traditional P-car.
Maserati GranCabrio

Maserati makes some of the most breathtakingly beautiful cars on the road, and the GranCabrio is certainly no exception to that rule. Its interior is as stylish and exclusive as you’d expect from an Italian sports car, but the rear seat isn’t a comfortable place to be if you’re a normal-sized grown up.
Under the hood, the GranCabrio has a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that sends 542 galloping Italian horses to all four wheels. If you have over $200,000 burning a hole in your pocket and want to turn heads, the Maserati is definitely a car you should consider.
BMW 7-Series

If you want a BMW, but the 5-Series isn’t posh enough, the 7-Series flagship sedan is the one you’re looking for. It’s always been the model that showcases BMW’s expert engineering, and it now has more style, power, features, and tech than ever before. Whatever trim you go for, it’ll be like driving a luxurious cloud.
Base models come with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, and with 381 hp, it’s certainly no slouch. However, the 760i xDrive is the one to get if you really want to show off. With a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 churning out 544 hp, it’ll push the passengers firmly into their seats.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class

For decades, the Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class has set the standard for the luxury sedan segment, and that hasn’t changed with its last iteration. M-B has always used the model to introduce its latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features, and safety systems.
The S-Class has always been a top choice among CEOs, politicians, and other VIPs and is ranked as the world’s best-selling luxury sedan.
Audi S8

Audi’s S8 is another large and comfortable sedan. Thanks to its turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that sends 563 hp to all four tires, it can reach 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
It packs serious performance, and the interior is just as impressive. Those factors, combined with a stealthy exterior, mean it’s often the car of choice for upper-class individuals who want to be chauffeured without drawing too much attention.
Lexus LS

Lexus is consistently ranked among the most reliable cars on the market, which isn’t the case with most luxury car brands. Seeing as the latest LS version was introduced in 2018 and facelifted in 2021, it’s not as fresh as the competition, but if you can look past that, it’s still an excellent option. If you’re considering the Genesis G90, you may find that the Lexus is a better option.
It looks stylish, and the engine options are both powerful and practically bulletproof. Inside, there’s plenty of space and high-end materials.
Audi e-tron GT

Audi wanted a share of the luxury EV market, and the e-tron GT is built on the same platform as the Porsche Taycan, so it’s definitely got some things going for it.
The e-tron GT delivers supercar-slaying performance, particularly in RS trim, which can reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, and it can travel far enough on a single charge to eliminate most cases of range anxiety. Of course, being a luxury car, its interior is draped in the finest quality leather, with brushed aluminum trim and carbon fiber inserts.
